The Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Awami March led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has entered Central Punjab after being started from Karachi.

The real test of Awami March’s success is ahead as it entered Central Punjab. However, the long march participants were not welcomed by any other opposition party at the beginning of their journey in Punjab province despite the announcement made by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

On the other hand, the PPP long march has also become a security risk after the horrific bomb explosion in a Peshawar mosque yesterday.

The marchers will begin their political campaign against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Central Punjab from today. The Awami March will cover the destinations of Lahore, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Lalamusa, Gujar Khan, Jhelum before reaching Rawalpindi.

PML-N had earlier promised to welcome Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in every city of Punjab. However, PPP was not welcomed in any part of South Punjab.

Analysts said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will go through a real test of his political party’s popularity in Punjab province in the presence of PML-N and PTI. It will reveal the ground reality of PPP’s claims to activate its voters in Punjab. They added that the failure of the Awami March in Punjab will also raise questions on the success of the upcoming no-confidence motion against the PTI government.
