On the auspicious occasion of August 14, it is germane to recall three non-controversial pride-of-Pakistan personalities hailing from Karachi including Dr Adeeb Rizvi, humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, and squash player Jahangir Khan.
The owner of the world’s largest ambulance service, Abdul Sattar Edhi, was a Pakistani humanitarian and philanthropist who is well-acclaimed across the world.
Edhi denoted his whole life for the betterment of street children, the poor, the homeless, and patients with mental health issues.

He was the father of millions and provided shelter to thousands of homeless in Pakistan.
The Edhi Foundation is funded entirely by private donations and has hundreds of operational centers throughout Pakistan. Not only this but the organization also conducts relief operations internationally.
Abdul Sattar Edhi not only spent his life serving humanity but announced to donate his organs after his demise. He closed his eyes from this world on July 8, 2016.
Dr Adeeb Rizvi
Dr Adeeb Rizvi, the man behind the success of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) also hails from Karachi.
SIUT, the largest kidney transplant center in Pakistan, started as an 8-bed ward at Karachi Civil Hospital.
As per an estimate, the center has treated nearly 24 million patients and around 6,350 successful surgeries have been performed since 1974.
The institute has become the largest dialysis center in South Asia all because of the dedication and hard work of Dr Adeeb Rizvi.
Jahangir Khan
Last but not the least, the ace squash player Jahangir Khan served the nation with his sports skill for more than a decade.
The player won World Open 6 times and British Open 10 consecutive times.
Jahangir Khan is the winner of 555 consecutive matches between 1981 and 1986 that is the longest winning streak by any top athlete in any sport.
He took retirement in 1993 but served as the World Squash Federation President for many years.
