Private schools start charging electricity costs from students

The nationals were now targeted by the private schools as they started adding electricity costs to the fee vouchers of the students.

The nationals already hit by skyrocketing inflation were now targeted by the private schools as they started adding electricity costs to the fee vouchers of the students.

Several private schools in Rawalpindi issued fee vouchers to the parents of the students in which electricity costs of the educational institutions were included in the name of fuel adjustment charges for the month of September.

Not only electricity costs, the private schools also forced the parents to pay miscellaneous charges including water and security. The move was made in violation of the government directives which restricted schools to charging only tuition fees.

However, there was no action taken by the concerned authorities against the administration of the said private schools so far.

It emerged that the parents who have more than one child enrolled in the school will also have to pay the electricity cost separately for each student. Some of the parents decided to approach the court to stop the illegal move made by the private schools.

All-Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association President Irfan Muzaffar Kiyani dissociated his association from some schools’ decisions and said that the association did not issue such orders but it was solely the private schools’ own decision.

Rawalpindi education department officials said that they would take appropriate action on the complaints after consulting the provincial education department and the concerned commissioner.
