PTI MPA Nazir Chohan from estranged JKT Group had called Adviser to the Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar a ‘Qadiani’

Yet another case of a smear campaign using the religion card to knock down the political opponent surfaced once again in national politics from the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Earlier, Nazir Chohan, PTI MPA belonging to estranged Jahangir Tareen (JKT) Group, had called Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar a ‘Qadiani’.

The members of the segregated group have blamed Shahzad Akbar to be the inventor of false and baseless cases against their group leader.

After this accusation, the adviser filed a complaint against Chohan with Lahore police for posing danger to his life and a first information report (FIR) was registered against the MPA.

Chohan had reached the police station to surrender but the police refused to do saying that it could not arrest the legislator without orders of the Punjab assembly’s speaker.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had taken to his Twitter to show his support for Shahzad Akbar.

Later in a media talk, PTI MPA Chohan didn’t back down from his words and said that he just wanted to put some facts before the nation and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

After the latest smear campaign by one of the leaders of a party against another, the case of using the religion card to batter the opponent has resurfaced in national politics.
