PTI long march: Govt decides to put Imran Khan under house arrest
The federal government decided to put Imran Khan to put under house arrest under the Maintainance of Public Ordinance (MPO)

After Imran Khan hinted at unveiling the long march’s date and strategy, the federal government expedited preparations to foil the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) anti-government rally in Islamabad.
The federal government decided to put Imran Khan to put under house arrest under the Maintainance of Public Ordinance (MPO) besides sealing the whole federal capital with containers for one week and suspending cellular services under the new plan.
Some media reports suggested that Metro bus services will also be suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, whereas, the authorities will check citizens’ CNICs and other documents for allowing to enter the federal capital.
Moreover, the government was also considering to close educational institutions and impose a ban on catering services and shops providing sound system for public gatherings.
According to Dawn News, the government also prepared a “Plan B” to arrest the PTI chairman before entering Islamabad in case he began his march from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) or Punjab. The PTI chief will be arrested at Rawat T-Cross if he tried to enter the capital from the south, the report said, adding that the police will be deployed to arrest him in Tarnol, if he tried to march on the capital from the northwest.
The officials said the police team in charge of Imran Khan’s security would play a crucial role in the arrest of the former premier.
It was learnt that the government allocated Rs500 million for security arrangements to counter the PTI march.
Some footages showed that the containers were being deployed in Faizabad, GT Road, New Margalla Road in Sangjani, the Nogazi shrine on Fateh Jang road, Nogazi Faisal Town, 26 No chungi and other localities.
At least 60,000 teargas shells and 30,000 rubber bullets were also being arranged to counter the long march, the Islamabad police said, adding that about 25,000 officials and officers from the Sindh police, Rangers, and FC will be deployed to maintain law and order.
Yesterday, Imran Khan announced that he will announce the PTI long march’s date very soon and the plan will surprise the incumbent government and nobody would be able to stop the mass movement.
