ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Aliya Hamza Malik has filed two petitions against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz for allegedly blackmailing the media and patronising indecent trends on social media.
Aliya Hamza Malik filed a petition with the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and the other with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing against Maryam Nawaz.
The petitions were filed after Maryam Nawaz and PML-N leaders were found involved in patronising indecent trends on social media against Prime Minister Imran Khan and First Lady Bushra Bibi.
The PTI MNA stated that Maryam Nawaz proved her support to the responsible persons behind the indecent trends by advocating for Sabir Hashmi, a PML-N social media activist arrested by FIA under Pakistan Electronic Crime Act (PECA).

In her application to FIA, Malik said that Bushra Bibi was not a political personality and the indecent trends were launched for her character assassination.
Moreover, Malik, in her petition with PEMRA, stated that Maryam Nawaz was also involved in running propaganda against the First Lady Bushra Bibi besides being involved in giving benefits to certain news channels and pressurising media outlets for personal interests.
