PTI mulling over fundraising strategy for flood victims: Asad Umar

PTI Secretary-General Asad Umar said that the political party started mulling over a strategy to commence fundraising for the flood victims.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Asad Umar said that the political party started mulling over a strategy to commence fundraising for the flood victims.

While talking to journalists, Asad Umar said that several parts of Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab were hit by flash floods in the recent monsoon seasons. The floods hit South Punjab, as well as KP’s Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan Kalam and Charsadda.

He said that the Pakistani nation always united in an emergency to get the people out of trouble after natural disasters. Umar said that Imran Khan directed the PTI leaders to start relief activities in their respective areas besides strictly monitoring other flood-hit areas where people need assistance.

He added that Imran Khan visited KP and he will also visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab.

Asad Umar said that PTI was receiving calls for a fundraising call from Imran Khan. He added that PTI is mulling over a strategy regarding fundraising for the flood victims and the best utilisation of donations. Umar said that the political party will also receive recommendations from the provinces and likely to take a decision today.

Yesterday, PTI chief Imran Khan said that he was facing pressure from the public to start fundraising for the flood victims, however, he will not start fundraising until getting a complete assessment of the damages caused by the floods.

He said that he will complete the assessment of the damages first before spending the donations on projects for rehabilitation and relief to the flood victims. Khan also asked the federal government to provide relief to the flood victims.
