In Azam Swati’s request, the IPU has included the names of former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Major General Faisal Naseer and Sector Commander Faheem Raza, among other senior officials of the security forces.

A thread from PTI’s official Twitter handle said that Senator Azam Swati has alleged that the Muslim League-N-led government and the military leadership have committed atrocities.

The petition filed in the IPU states that Azam Swati was abducted by a group of armed men on October 13 last year for tweeting against the army’s interference in politics.

Azam Swati was subjected to severe torture by the federal agency FI officials dressed in plain clothes, due to which he lost his consciousness and he was also subjected to sexual abuse.

According to the complainant, after Swati was released on bail, she received threatening messages from the military leadership while her objectionable videos were sent to her family.

It should be noted that the Inter-Parliamentary Union is an organization of parliaments of the United Nations. Its main objective is to promote democratic governance, accountability and cooperation among its members.
