Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi becomes trouble for Imran Khan, Sharif brothers

Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi became trouble for PTI chief Imran Khan and PML-N top leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi became trouble for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) top leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif.

After gaining significant importance in national politics, Punjab CM and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) top leader Pervaiz Elahi was seen making PTI and PML-N surrender on multiple occasions.

Yesterday, Imran Khan told the court reporters in a meeting at his Zaman Park residence that the stances of PTI and PML-Q’s Pervaiz Elahi were not the same regarding General Retired Qamar Javed Bajwa despite being in an alliance in the Punjab government.

He also hinted at ordering PTI MPAs in the Punjab Assembly if PML-Q resisted the dissolution of the assembly after the vote of confidence. Moreover, PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry categorically stated that Pervaiz Elahi is not in favour of the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.

He, however, said that Imran Khan is still having the authority to decide the fate of the Punjab Assembly and expressed hope that Pervaiz Elahi will follow Khan’s instructions for the assembly’s dissolution.

On the other hand, PML-N and its allies are also facing trouble to remove or gain the support of the Punjab CM due to its weak position in the provincial assembly. Despite multiple attempts to remove him, the ruling political party in the Centre faced failures every time. Yesterday, Punjab CM had also rejected to take the vote of confidence and claimed that it is not needed after having complete numbers in the provincial assembly.

Analysts said that both sides have now pulled their socks up for the vote of confidence in the coming days. They said that the court might issue an order after January 11 if the Punjab CM did not take the vote of confidence.
