Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi takes vote of confidence in a surprise move

PTI chief Imran Khan stunned the opposition party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and its allies in the Punjab Assembly with the surprise decision to take the vote of confidence for CM Pervaiz Elahi in yesterday’s session.

The Punjab chief minister got trust votes from 186 lawmakers in a chaotic PA session. Punjab minister Mian Aslam Iqbal tabled a resolution to the PA to request conducting the trust vote. The opposition staged a protest and surrounded the speaker’s dice.

The efforts of the opposition lawmakers remained fruitless as they boycotted the PA session and walked out of the Punjab Assembly after failing to interrupt the process of the trust vote.

PA Speaker Sibtain Khan announced the success of CM Pervaiz Elahi, 186 government members in the House gave him a vote of confidence. The government lawmakers beat the desks on his victory while the PTI leaders present in the guest gallery chanted happily.

CM Pervaiz said that the PML-N had been calling for the vote of confidence for a month and now, he has gained the trust vote. He vowed to make Punjab an ideal province. He also announced a bonus for the assembly employees.
