The continuous changes in the Punjab Information Ministry have bowled Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan from the position of spokesperson for the third time.

Removing Chohan from the post of Punjab government spokesperson, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar has replaced him with Hasaan Khawar.

Khawar will not only hold the position of official spokesperson but he will also be responsible as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Special Initiatives.

Following the rustication, opposition party members said Usman Buzdar is still holding the seat despite his poor performance while Chohan has become a scapegoat again.

Sources said that Chohan was informed about his removal as Punjab government spokesman while he was playing cricket at Governor House in Lahore.

Chohan expressed his concerns over Buzdar’s decision, saying that he should have been taken into confidence before concluding.

The first controversy struck him in March 2019 when he had to step down owing to pressure developed from his demeaning remarks against the Hindu community.

He then made a comeback as the Punjab information minister after 9 months in December that year, only to be removed almost after a year in November 2020.

Later, Chohan was reappointed as the provincial government’s spokesperson after Awan’s resignation in August this year.

He still holds the portfolio of the Minister of Prisons of Punjab.
