Following the accountability court hearing of illegal plots allotment reference against Jang Group Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman on September 22, two witnesses of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have recorded their testimonies.
In the last hearing, the acquittal pleas of Mir Shakil and two co-accused were rejected by the accountability court of Lahore.
NAB prosecutor said the owner of Jang Group obtained 54 plots of one-kanal each in Johar Town in Lahore on exemption which was supported by then Punjab chief minister Nawaz Sharif.
The official said that the illegal allotment induced a loss of over Rs 140 million to the national treasury.

In the latest development, two NAB witnesses including Azhar Ali and Mohammad Omar were summoned by the court to record their statements in Mir Shakil case.
NAB Special Prosecutor Haris Qureshi and Mir Shakil appeared before the court with his lawyer.
Moreover, co-accused former DG Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Humayun Faiz Rasool, and Bashir Ahmad also attended the hearing.
Deputy Director Town Planning, Muhammad Omar, informed the court that his verified statement was recorded to the investigator on March 24 and submitted to the concerned NAB department.
According to sources, there will be more sensational revelations from the NAB witnesses as the anti-graft watchdog is determined to bring the case to a logical conclusion.
In case of conviction, the accused Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman will be behind the bars for 14 years.
Following the testimonies of witnesses, the hearing has been adjourned till October 12.
