No decision took place regarding Punjab elections, Secretary ECP
Spokesperson of Governor Punjab says some issues and aspects of governor's advisory role in previous decision of LHC require interpretation, LHC will be referred for interpretation and clarification of decision
The date for general elections could not be decided in Punjab, Secretary Election Commission says that the date was not decided in today’s meeting.
Regarding the conduct of general elections in Punjab, an important meeting was held by the officials of the Election Commission under the chairmanship of Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman. No decision could be taken in the meeting as to when the elections will be held in Punjab.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Secretary Election Commission Umar Hamid Khan said that all constitutional and legal aspects were reviewed in the meeting, and now again the decision that came from the court, for interpretation and further explanation. The Lahore High Court will be approached again.

The meeting chaired by Governor Balighur Rehman continued for about an hour in which all the constitutional and legal aspects were reviewed in detail. Director General Law also attended the meeting. Chief Secretary Punjab and IG Punjab were also present in the meeting. Election Commission Director General Law also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Governor Punjab referred to Article 5 of the Constitution and said that I did not dissolve the assembly, the assembly has been dissolved automatically.
Secretary Election Commission while talking to the media said that the Governor of Punjab has asked to file an interference on the decision of the Lahore High Court, he will use his legal right. He said that all the details will be placed before the commission and what the commission decides will have to be seen.
On the other hand, the spokesman of the governor of Punjab says that he will approach the court after consulting the constitutional experts.
