It has been said in the Twitter message that President Arif Alvi has announced the date of the Punjab election after considering the dates suggested by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

After the decision of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of Pakistan through a letter to the President suggested the dates from April 30 to May 7 for the general elections in Punjab province.

It should be remembered that a few days ago the Supreme Court had issued orders for general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 90 days and said that it is the constitutional responsibility of the governor to give the date of the election.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has decided in its decision that if the Governor does not give the date of the elections, then the President of the State will be responsible for giving the date of the elections.

The Supreme Court in its decision declared null and void the decision of the President to give history in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The decision states that it is the responsibility of the governor to give the date of elections in KP.

The verdict reads that the Punjab Assembly was dissolved within 48 hours without the Governor’s signature, Governor KP deviating from his constitutional responsibility by not giving a date for the elections.

It has been written in the decision that the Election Commission should immediately recommend the date of the elections to the President. The date of election should be given keeping in view the section 57 and 58 of the Election Act.
