Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accorded approval to observe the mourning over the demise of the Queen on the recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Radio Pakistan.
The national flag of Pakistan shall fly half-mast throughout the country on 12th September 2022, the notification read.

The decision raised many eyebrows as the coalition government set a unique precedent by observing national mourning in the South Asia region. Moreover, PM Shehbaz Sharif has also scheduled to visit the UK for attending the funeral ceremony of Queen Elizabeth late.
The neighbouring countries including India and Bangladesh did not choose to take the same step after offering condolence remarks over Queen’s death.
Analysts questioned the rulers about why to take the decision after formally offering condolences to the royal family and the UK government.
They also questioned whether the mindset of Britain’s slavery was still there to bow heads before the UK monarch from which the nation struggled to get independence.
They questioned whether it was not enough to offer just condolences over Queen’s death like India and Bangladesh or if it was necessary to go ahead with observing the national mourning.
