Reason behind why Jang did not publish the Toshakhana gifts’ report in London Edition

The Jang newspaper did not publish one of the reports regarding the sale of expensive Toshakhana gifts in its London Edition.

The revelations made by Jang and Geo Media Groups made headlines and started debates everywhere regarding the sale of Toshakhan gifts by former prime minister Imran Khan, however, the Jang newspaper did not publish one of the reports regarding the sale of expensive gifts in its London Edition.

The reason why the Toshakhana gifts’ report was not published in Jang’s London Edition comes to light. The media group was seemingly unsure about the veracity of its story as the reports were only published in Pakistan’s editions except in the London edition due to strict laws against defamation and disinformation.

Toshakhana’s wristwatch sale saga: It’s govt, Geo News, Umar Farooq vs PTI

After the airing of media reports, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan announced to take legal action against Geo and Jang Group, Shahzeb Khanzada and Norwegian-Pakistani business Umar Farooq Zahoor for levelling baseless allegations against him for selling an expensive wristwatch which he bought from Toshakhana.

Imran Khan tweeted, “Enough is enough. Yesterday Geo & Khanzada supported by Handlers slandered me through a baseless story cooked up by a known fraudster & internationally wanted criminal. I have spoken to my lawyers & I plan to sue Geo, Khanzada & the fraudster not only in Pak but also in UK & UAE.”

Moreover, the PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that Geo Group has itself censored the TV program and relevant news reports regarding the Toshakhana case in London.

“They think they would only have to deal with Pakistani courts. Let’s start from Pakistan.” He added that the process to seek legal action against the media group will begin today against the fake evidence and TV program.

Analysts said the media group was apparently afraid of facing legal action in the UK for airing the controversial TV program and relevant media reports, hence, they chose not to broadcast or publish the reports in Britain.
