Reference against Chief Justice and other seven judges for transgression in Parliament

High Court lawyer Mian Dawood has filed a reference in Supreme Judicial Council against eight judges of Supreme Court including Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial.

Advocate Mian Dawood has accused eight Supreme Court judges including Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial of the attack on Paliman in a reference filed in Supreme Judicial Council.

Mian Dawood in a message from his Twitter handle said that Chief Justice of Pakistan has filed a reference in Supreme Judicial Council against 8 judges of Supreme Court including Justice Umar Atta Bandial.

He said that it has been pleaded in reference that all eight judges have been guilty of transgression on Parliament, Article 209 of Constitution, court decisions, and Judges’ Code of Conduct.

Advocate Mian Dawood has requested Supreme Judicial Council to remove Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and other eight judges from their posts after a formal inquiry.

It should be noted that Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal had formed an 8-member larger bench under his chairmanship to hear the petitions filed against Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill approved regarding the powers of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court stopped the implementation of the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill 2023. next hearing on Judicial Reform Bill in Supreme Court will be held on May 2.

Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Ayesha Malik, and Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial, heard the case.

An eight-member bench of the Supreme Court heard the case this morning and adjourned the hearing indefinitely, issuing notices to all the parties.
