Regime change conference: Ayaz Amir launches criticism against Imran Khan

Senior columnist and political analyst Ayaz Amir has slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former premier Imran Khan at a conference regarding Regime Change Fallout in Pakistan.

Ayaz Amir, without naming names, criticised the military establishment and at the same time, he blamed Imran Khan for giving an extension to a prominent military personality. Surprisingly, Imran Khan kept listening to criticism with a smile and kept smiling.

The columnist said that Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman have been imposed on the nation and they have failed to deliver, however, the real culprit is someone else and if the reason is someone else, then Imran Khan was also responsible for it. Amir strictly questioned Imran Khan, “Where did you get the hobby of extension?”

He said that they are not a member of any fan club and they have been told that there is skipper who fired his own cousin namely Majid from the cricket team.

Ayaz Amir asked if there was a law that the Queen would head her cabinet. But there is a tradition and this tradition has been going on in Pakistan for 72 to 74 years. The government should have taken a stand that this is a tradition and the government stands by it but there were so many wise people in the previous government that they moved to the SC and later the matter was forwarded from the top court to the parliament.

He slammed the previous PTI government for passing the legislation to give an extension to the army chief. He criticised Imran Khan for introducing a tradition of 6-year tenure of the army chief.

Ayaz Amir criticised Imran Khan without naming any officer and said that why he is relying on one personality when there are other senior officers too. The issue has worsened when all responsibilities including security, Balochistan and even political matters were handed over to him.

He said that Khan has also played a role in the current political crisis and now, the morale of the national institutions is affected.

Amir said that the former premier had handed over the whole country to the property dealers. However, after experiencing the political trauma, Imran Khan is trying to be another revolutionist Che Guevara. He praised Khan for trying to be Che Guevara and said that he should get rid of property dealers and the evils like Lahore Ravi Urban Development Authority.

“We were thinking that if you come into power, then you will pay attention to these issues. However, the situation has changed now. There is no need to remind the past and we have one thing in front of us that we have very few options. I can favour Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) but I can’t see Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on these key positions nor can I see Asif Ali Zardari or his son. The God has given you an opportunity to fill the gap and there is no other option then you at this time.”

He advised Imran Khan to get himself out of mentioning the US and Donald Lu again and again as the next 1.5 years are very important. The developments likely to be witnessed in November will be very important. He praised Imran Khan for showing great skills of resistance against the forced regime change.

During his speech, Ayaz Amir also criticised former Punjab chief minister and former Industry Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal for setting up cement factories in Punjab.
