“O Level and IGCSE exams will now begin from May 10 instead of 15”, announced Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood that sparked disruption among Cambridge students in the country.
The minister took to Twitter and informed that he had received a letter from Cambridge CEO Christian Ozden who requested the government to change the date of exams.
The post also contained the screenshot of the letter received.
“After consultation with provinces/stakeholders we have agreed”, he added.

However, a few days back, the minister announced to conduct exams after May 15 and maintained that the decision was being made considering what was best for the students.
After detailed discussions, Cambridge has agreed to reschedule ‘O’ level exams to after May 15. Details will be shared later by them. However, ‘A’ and ‘As’ level exams will take place as per the original timetable, following all the SOPs. Wishing everyone success in the exams

The time and again rescheduling of exams has given rise to a befuddling situation for the students preparing for Cambridge exams.
In response, a protest was staged outside Peshawar Press Club (PPC) where a large number of students gathered to demonstrate against the announcement.
The protesting students held banners inscribed with “Shafqat Uncle have mercy on us” and other anti-exam slogans.
The pupils projected their demand to cancel exams due to the pandemic situation.
The demonstrating students were of the view that the educational institutes were closed and proper classes were not conducted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On the other hand, the students in Lahore and Karachi are going to hold protests against the move today.
