Road Infrastructure of PPP-Led Sindh Province Left in Ruins

PPP has remained a dominant party in the province and from constituency NA-200 Ratodero, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was elected as MNA in 2018

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led Sindh government is always self-assertive of tweaking the road infrastructure in the province, but the situation of thoroughfares in Sukkur and Mirpur Bhutto cities paints a different picture.

The roads in Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC) estate in Rohri city of Sukkur district has been in a dilapidated condition due to the negligence by concerned authorities.

The roads have potholes serving as a stumbling block for the passers-by and not only this, open manholes add insult to the injury.

SSIC estate has been suffering the most from the stagnant rainwater owing to which it is extremely difficult for the workers and the loading vehicles to shuttle due to formation of ruts.

The area at night falls pitch-black due to lack of streetlights and it becomes fiendishly difficult for the passers-by to move around while several incidents have occurred due to this.

While discussing the issue with News360, Sajjad Flour Mill’s Managing Director Suresh Kumar and Lal Flour Mill’s Manager Sital Das informed that the companies have been paying taxes in millions but the zone is still shabby.

The officials were of the view that the estate lack a proper drainage system, roads are untended without streetlights although the industries are paying hefty amounts in taxes.

Similarly, in Mirpur Bhutto in Shikarpur district of Sindh, daily accidents are becoming run of the mill due to poor road infrastructure.

Not only this, multiple incidents have occurred when critically ill patients lost their precious lives while commuting to the hospitals due to delays caused by the tumbled-down roads.

PPP has remained a dominant party in the province and from constituency NA-200 Ratodero, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was elected as the Member National Assembly (MNA).

Despite all this, the ruling PPP has turned a blind eye to the issues and the road infrastructure of Sindh has been left in ruins.
