Rs 21bn not received, SC notice to Ministry of Finance on response of Election Commission

Election Commission has submitted a report to Supreme Court regarding provision of funds of 21 billion rupees for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Election Commission informed court that despite court orders, Ministry of Finance has not released funds worth 21 billion rupees, due to which it is not possible to hold election in Punjab on May 14.
Registrar Supreme Court issued a notice to the Ministry of Finance based on the response of the Election Commission and asked for a report regarding the provision of funds.
According to the sources, a 2-page progress report on the provision of funds was submitted by the Election Commission last night, in which it is stated that funds have not been received.
The Election Commission has informed the Supreme Court that despite the court orders, the Election Commission has not been able to get the funds for the elections, so holding the election on May 14 is not possible anymore.
According to sources, the Supreme Court has sought a report from the Ministry of Finance on the response of the Election Commission. According to the sources, the Registrar Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Ministry of Finance. The special messenger of the court sent the notice to the Ministry of Finance.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court had given a deadline of April 27 to the Ministry of Finance to issue 21 billion rupees for the election in Punjab.
