Ruling allies devise strategy for cypher probe, PTI long march

ISLAMABAD: The ruling allies have devised a strategy regarding the cypher probe, audio leaks and Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) expected long march in Islamabad.

The ruling allies decided to stop PTI marchers from entering Islamabad, as well as decided to launch a probe into cypher or diplomatic cable besides expediting the investigation into the audio leaks.

The heads of the ruling allies agreed to stop all elements planning to attack Islamabad and attempting to topple the government by crossing the limits of the Constitution and law. The participants of the session have also warned the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governments against becoming a party in the PTI long march that would lead to chaos and unrest in the country.

Regarding the diplomatic cable issue, the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and allies decided to launch a high-powered probe into the cypher.

They also agreed on expediting the probe into audio leaks through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against the elements trying to compromise the national interests.

Analysts said that it was surprising to see that PDM and its allies have decided to launch a high-powered investigation into the cypher issue after adopting a stance that the diplomatic cable was nothing other than a lie of Imran Khan and his political party.

They questioned what made the PDM government realise that a probe should be launched into the cypher issue when in its opinion, the diplomatic cable does not exist or go missing from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Analysts added that Imran Khan has not unveiled the date of the PTI long march in Islamabad but it increased the worries of the ruling PDM and its allies. They questioned why the coalition government was devising counter-protest plans when the actual date of the PTI long march was not announced.
