Due to severe back injuries, Ashar is now paralyzed and a case has been registered against the mall administration.

The video of the incident went viral on social media in which Ashar could be heard screaming in pain.

The salesman was pulled out from under the signboard by bystanders and has since been unable to move.

Ashar informed police that he was strolling on the premises when the billboard fell off the wall.

Meanwhile, his parents informed that the bystanders took their son to a nearby hospital and decried that they are unable to afford the treatment of their paralyzed son.

On the other hand, Member National Assembly (MNA) Muhammad Aslam Khan has demanded action from Karachi Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Central District against related officials.

The municipal corporation maintained that the employee was injured not by billboard but plywood.

However, Mohammad Aslam Khan claimed that the accident happened due to fall of the billboard at Lucky One Mall.

MNA recalled that he had pointed out illegally installed billboards installed at various locations in the central district and warned they could lead to accidents.

Notably, in October last year, Sindh High Court (SHC) had upheld the orders of the Supreme Court (SC) regarding billboards in Karachi and ordered their removal from buildings.

SHC had remarked that all cantonment boards and the private sector should also implement SC’s orders.
