Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig has become the first Pakistani woman to summit the world’s second tallest mountain — K2.

Renowned Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig has become the first Pakistani woman to summit the world’s second tallest mountain — K2.

Samina Baig was part of a seven-member Pakistani team in the son of legendary Ali Sadpara, Sajid Sadpara who scaled K2.

Samina and the team scaled the world’s second and Pakistan’s tallest mountain (8611meters) Friday morning at 7:42 am.

Following the achievement, the famous mountaineer became a Twitter trend and congratulatory messages poured in for her.

Amir Mateen wrote on Twitter, “Here we come from behind to top mountaineering; we should be on top as host to most 8000-er tops. Heroic Sadparas, Rajab, Nazir inspired to make it a national craze. Glory to all of them- Samina Baig who led K2 Team; Shehroz-youngest to scale world top 4 at 20.”

Jamil Nagri said on Twitter that seven climbers from Gilgit Baltistan (GB) led by female climber Samina Baig successfully summited K2 this morning, the summiteers included Samina Baig, Eid Muhammad, Bulbul Karim, Ahmed Baig, Rizwan Dad, Waqar Ali and Akber Hussain Sadpara.

Baig had scaled the seven highest peaks in the world, known as the Seven Summits and she was the first Pakistani female mountaineer to summit Mount Everest.
