KARACHI: Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab has tendered an unconditional apology to the Supreme Court (SC) for his harsh remarks against the judges in the Gutter Baghicha case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court (SC) directed to remove Murtaza Wahab from the position of Karachi Administrator after he exchanged harsh words with the judges.

The top court accepted his apology and took back its order for his removal as Karachi administrator. Murtaza Wahab has been directed to make decisions free from his political affiliation.

A two-member bench of the top court’s Karachi Registry issued the orders earlier while hearing a case related to encroachments today. During the hearing, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab was questioned for the progress on the anti-encroachment decisions.

Prior to giving the orders, the top court sought Murtaza Wahab to provide details regarding the removal of encroachments in Gutter Baghicha. The Karachi administrator responded aggressively, saying that the judges should visit the locality first.

After being questioned regarding the progress on Nasla Tower demolition, Murtaza Wahab told the court that 400 labourers are busy demolishing the high-rise building.

CJP Justice Gulzar Ahmed expressed outrage over the slow pace of work and questioned for not completing the demolition of Nasla Tower as yet despite the court orders. He issued directives to complete the demolition of Nasla Tower within 15 days.

The SC bench decided to confiscate the land till the issuance of compensation to the affectees by the builder.
