The Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood’s wish to students appearing in intermediate exams starting today irked Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.
As the education minister extended good wishes to the students across the country for their exams, the ex-railway minister was quick to criticize him.
The intermediate exams in the provinces, except Sindh, and federal educational institutions are commencing today.

The education minister took to his Twitter account and wished good luck to the candidates appearing in them.
Exams are starting tomorrow in the remaining provinces and federating units. Wish all students taking exams from tomorrow the very best. Inshallah all will do well

The exams amid the covid-19 pandemic had become a mare’s nest for the government but it decided to go with it and refused to promote students without assessment like the preceding year.
The students had protested the move and an organized drive was run against the minister on social media at regular intervals along with physical protests, demanding the minister’s resignation.
They had cited that lack of preparation due to interrupted classes amid the pandemic situation would affect their performance in the papers.
Probably addressing this fear, Shafqat Mahmood said the students who sought extra time for preparation could appear in supplementary exams that would be conducted by all boards in the next 2-3 months.
The ex-railway minister said the fresh students could not appear in the supplementary exams as it is only for those who want to improve their marks or failed in any paper.

Criticizing Shafqat’s logic, the staunch critic of the PTI government said that a student must fail to qualify for the supplementary exams and added that the federal education minister didn’t even know it.
However, the education minister didn’t respond to Saad Rafique’s comment.
