Shahbaz Gill police custody, violation of human rights: HRCP
Islamabad Police obtained another two-day physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, whereas, HRCP found it violation of human rights.
The police of the “sub-continent”, including the western countries, used to torture the accused for interrogation to get a confession from them, and the Pakistani police left everyone behind in this field.
Yesterday, Islamabad Police obtained another two-day physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill, the question is whether the confession in police custody is admissible in court or not.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shahbaz Gill, who was arrested in a sedition case, was sent on two-day physical remand to the Islamabad Police by the District and Sessions Court Judge Zeba Chaudhry.
However, Gill was shifted to PIMS Hospital – Islamabad late at night due to his worsened health condition, whereas, his “ECG” report was not good.
Doctors said that Gill is having difficulty in breathing, therefore, they decided to keep him at the hospital until he recovers.
The team of doctors who conducted the medical examination of the politician including physicians of medicine, neurologist and cardiac diseases.
Legal experts gave their opinions and said that any confession of crime in police custody is not acceptable in court.
They further said that the police obtaining two remands in Gill’s case was a mockery of whether the police have obtained physical remand for torturing the politician or the government wants to vent its anger.
However, a confession made in police custody is not admissible in any court.
The Human Rights Commission has condemned the court decision, saying that Shahbaz Gill should be released immediately.
On the other hand, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan condemned the arrest of Shahbaz Gul and issued a statement on the social media website Twitter, writing that “the decision to send HRCPPTI leader Shabaz Gul to physical remand But worried.”
“This is a purely political case. They will be tortured during remand,” the HRCP wrote.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan further wrote that “regardless of the nature of the allegations, there should be a fair and transparent investigation.”
A tweet read, “HRCP is concerned at the decision to send PTI leader @SHABAZGIL to physical remand in what is effectively a political case. Any allegations that he was mistreated while on remand should also be investigated fairly and transparently.”
