Shireen Mazari Got Into an Argument With Opposition in NA
Human Rights Minister scowled at PPP's MNA Nafisa Shah for not getting approval of the protection bill that belonged to them since 2012
During a National Assembly (NA) session, Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari tabled the Journalists’ Protection Bill but the opposition party, PPP, took strong exception against it, claiming that it was an old one.
In a video circulating on social media, PPP’s Nafisa Shah argued with Human Rights Minister for plagiarizing the bill.
The dispute started after Nafisa Shah read out the provisions of the protection bill during the NA session.
In response to her, Shireen said that the bill was completely plagiarized by the opposition party.

Proving her point, Shireen said that before presenting the bill in the session, several media houses and journalists were consulted for more than a year.
Moreover, she said that it was very fraudulent of the opposition party to take undue credit for all efforts made by PTI.
Shireen suggested opposition to address the changes in the bill through PPP’s Human Rights Committee.
But the minister said that claiming to be the author of the document was not acceptable.
Commenting on Shireen’s opinion, Nafisa said, “I take strong exception to honorable’s language, her allegations and strongly condemn this tone”.
Nafisa added, “PTI plagiarized a bill that PPP had conceived, brought, and put on the agenda in 2012”.
PPP MNA explained how the Journalists’ Protection Bill has been circling different departments for 10 years and only journalists were at the suffering end.
Responding to Nafisa, Shireen said that she had drafted the bill under the supervision of her daughter-advocate Imaan Hazir Mazari.
Further, Mazari scowled and said, “If the bill that opposition party is taking credit off belongs to them since 2012, then why didn’t they get it approved”.
Concluding the fight between the two, NA speaker Asad Qaiser asked Nafisa Shah and Shireen Mazari to submit the documents after the assembly session ends.
