Sindh Government Has no Qualms About Protesting Headmasters

The school principals tried to march towards Sindh Chief Minister House on Wednesday but police intercepted and assaulted them

Sindh government has no qualms about protesting headmasters who are on the roads for the past three weeks.

On Wednesday, the school principals tried to march towards Sindh Chief Minister House but they were intercepted by the police, and some of them, including women, were assaulted too.

The headmasters said that they were staging a protest outside Sindh Assembly for the past several days after demonstrating outside Karachi Press Club (KPC) for 17 consecutive days.

They challenged if a government official could spend even a single night on the road.

Demanding regularization, the protesters said the Sindh government wanted to induct favorite people by conducting a test again.

They said that educators were arrested and humiliated by Sindh government.

Sindh government’s stance

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah reiterated court orders regarding the teachers who are on the roads for the last three weeks.

While talking to the media, Sindh Chief Minister referred to the verdict of Sindh High Court (SHC) according to which it would be mandatory for all 937 principals to appear in Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) exam.

He said, “Teachers are neither giving the exam nor teaching children, they are just sitting on roads”.

Murad Ali Shah said that some 937 headmasters were affected by the court’s decision. However, only 30-40 educators were complaining.

The chief minister said that the confusion was created due to different verdicts of the court on the matter.

He added that he was ready to meet protesting teachers but insisted them to abide by the law.

Sindh chief minister said when the educators could pass the IBA test, they could qualify again through another test.

Further, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani claimed that the protesting headmasters were aware of the court’s decisions.

He added, “They know that we want to regularize them but unable to do so due to legal impediments”.

The minister urged the demonstrators to return on duties in their respective schools.

Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has not spoken on the issue yet.

He had vehemently supported the civil servants who protested against the federal government for their demands in February.
