Sindh Govt Sealed Cafe Bogie Over SOPs Violation

DC South Karachi paid a surprise visit to the different areas to check whether hotels and restaurants were complying with precautionary measures

Following the orders of Deputy Commissioner (DC) South Karachi, the restaurant designed in a retired railway carriage, Cafe Bogie, managed by Pakistan railways, was sealed over SOPs violation on May 7.

Located within busy premises of City Railway Station in Karachi, Cafe Bogie gained popularity for the unorthodox idea and is frequently visited by food lovers.

With a sitting capacity of 20 people inside the carriages, the eatery offers seating space for 40 people outdoor too.

Café Bogie has four different compartments that are labeled after city names including Lahore, Sahiwal, and Multan.

It is designed keeping in view all cultural aspects of the country and a Takht is predominant in the sitting arrangement.

Ranging from all desi cuisines including Chicken Karahi, mixed BBQ platter to Pizza, Café Bogie is quite popular among Karachities for the taste, ambiance and affordable prices.

However, the good days for the cafe have an unexpected break now after it violated the government’s orders.

To curb coronavirus, the Sindh government had imposed restrictions on restaurants under which indoor and outdoor dining are banned.

The restaurants will not be allowed to offer takeaway facilities after Iftar and could only offer home delivery service.

On Wednesday, DC South Karachi paid a surprise visit to different hotels and restaurants to inspect compliance with SOPs.

The commissioner discovered Cafe Bogie to be violating SOPs after which it was sealed by the administration.

In response to it, the Pakistan Railways administration has sought assistance from legal advisers to be ascertained whether the action taken in railways premises was in the purview of the district administration.
