Sindh Government Turns on Election Mode in Karachi

The provincial government has decided to takeover four hospitals under Karachi Metropolitan Corporation while it is likely to attest appointment of Murtaza Wahab as Karachi's administrator on Saturday

The Sindh government has turned on the election mode as it has decided to takeover four hospitals owned by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

The final approval in this regard will be given by the provincial cabinet tomorrow, sources said.

The same Sindh government that had opposed the takeover of hospitals by the federal government has decided to gain control of four KMC hospitals.

These include Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases, Gizri Maternity Home, Sobraj Maternity Hospital, and Shah Faisal Cardiac Center.

Sources told News360 that the Sindh cabinet will also deliberate to appoint Sindh Government Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab as the new KMC Administrator.

It added that there are huge chances that its final approval will be given in the cabinet meeting.

It is noteworthy that other stakeholders of Karachi including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P) have already opposed the potential move.

Both parties say that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wants to confiscate all resources of Karachi through such tactics.

The elected representatives of the local government completed their tenure in August last year. Since then, the biggest city of Pakistan is being run through an administrator.

The experts said that the Sindh government has turned on the election mode and through a politically appointed administrator, it wants to convince the citizens of metropolis to vote for PPP in the next local bodies elections.
