Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori on mission to unite MQM
Analysts say things would be very different in Karachi as compared to the past if ongoing efforts of Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori bear fruit in shape of a united MQM.
The political developments in Sindh, especially Karachi have once again made headlines as Governor Kamran Tessori made fruitful efforts to unite the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) factions.
Yesterday, former MQM leader and Pak-Sarzameen Party (PSP) chief Mustafa Kamal met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad and openly discussed the political issues of Karachi.

Analysts say that if Kamran Tesori succeeds in his endeavours, the Karachi of tomorrow will be different from the Karachi of today.
Late Thursday night, Governor Tesori visited the PSP headquarters. PSP chief Mustafa Kamal and workers welcomed Sindh Governor warmly upon his arrival at the party headquarters, Pakistan House. PSP leaders Anis Kaimkhani, Ashfaq Mangi and Naik Muhammad were also there at the meeting.

Sources said that the current political situation, unity of MQM factions and other issues were discussed in detail in the meeting.
Sources said that Governor Tesori invited PSP chief Mustafa Kamal and other leaders to rejoin Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) led by Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The PSP chief Mustafa Kamal is expected to formally announce the merger of his party with MQM-P on Sunday.
Tessori, Kamal media talk
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Governor Tessori said, “Broken roads, dirty streets and choked sewers, what are we being punished for, no saviour will come, we have to move forward ourselves. Attempts to belittle each other have to be stopped, together we have to work for Karachi.”
On the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said that no single party can solve the country’s problems, for the sake of national interest, you have to keep your personal politics behind, only Karachi can get Pakistan out of its problems.
It should be mentioned here that Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori held individual meetings with Dr Farooq Sattar, PSP chief and MQM-P leaders this week and urged them to unite all MQM factions.
Analysts said that the attempts to bring MQM factions together are right in their place, but all these efforts are aimed at eliminating or reducing the political power of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Karachi and urban parts of Sindh. This is because PTI’s vote bank has increased in the province and especially in Karachi which is not being stopped by either the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) or the divided MQM.
Analysts added that MQM’s votes were divided in the last by-elections, which PTI took full advantage of and won by a close margin. Therefore, if MQM Pakistan has to restore its credibility among the people, it will have to unite at all costs, otherwise, PTI is still there to replace them.
