Sindh govt’s strict dress code for teachers
The Sindh Education Department has introduced a comprehensive code of conduct for school teachers across the province, following consultation with key stakeholders, media reported.
The newly issued guidelines emphasised professional appearance, respectful interaction, and the need to uphold ethical standards in schools. According to the code, teachers are required to wear attire that reflects professionalism and cultural respect.
Female teachers were advised to avoid heavy makeup, refrain from wearing high heels or excessive jewellery, and opt for traditional clothing suitable for the classroom environment.
Male teachers have been instructed to avoid wearing T-shirts and jeans to school, in a bid to promote a more professional dress standard. The guidelines strictly prohibit the use of gutka, naswar, mawa, cigarettes, or similar substances within school premises.
The department has also warned teachers against assigning personal tasks to students or administering physical punishment under any circumstances. “Teachers must treat all students equally and refrain from behaviour based on personal preferences,” the department stated.
Additionally, the code urges teachers to maintain professional boundaries with students and engage with colleagues and staff in a respectful and positive manner.
