Sindh matric exams: Cheating culture reigns supreme as question papers leaked

Exam papers have been leaked in different cities, including provincial capital Karachi, whereas there are reports about ‘cheating mafia’ activation during the matric exams.

KARACHI: The Sindh education department has again failed to end the menace of cheating as it reigned supreme in different cities of the province during matric exams started today.

Exam papers have been leaked in different cities, including the provincial capital Karachi, whereas there are reports about ‘cheating mafia’ activation during the matric exams.

According to the reports, the question paper for ninth-grade computer studies was leaked on social media just 15 minutes before the commencement of the exams.

Moreover, the question papers of Sindhi, Urdu and English were also leaked in Sukkur and Nawabshah.

It is pertinent to mention here that more than 360,000 students have registered themselves for the exams of 9th and 10th classes (matriculation) only in Karachi, whereas, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) established 448 examination centres across 18 towns.

90,459 students from the same city, Khairpur and Ghotki have registered themselves for the annual matric (9th and 10th) exams including 46,459 for 9th and 44,000 for 10th class under the Sukkur education board.

187 examination centres have been established in all three districts. The education board has more than 27 teams to visit the examination centres to end the menace of cheating. It has also sought the provincial home department to declare the centres as prohibited zone and imposition of Section 144.

However, the arrangements bore no fruit as cheating is on rising in different cities. The matric exams will be continued from May 17 to 25 across the province.
