The province has now become a centre of national politics as the Sindh ruling party, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), announced to hold a long march against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the ruling party in the Centre, on February 27 from Karachi to Islamabad after some warm up power shows.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had earlier announced to spread rallies for the farmers’ rights in the other parts of the country after organising ‘tractor trolley march’ events in Larkana division of Sindh and Okara city of Sahiwal division in Punjab in the first phase of the anti-government movement.

According to the PPP, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will lead the farmers’ rally in Larkana, whereas, PPP Punjab president Raja Pervez Ashraf will lead the protest rally in Punjab’s Okara.

In response to the anti-government movement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the major opposition party in Sindh, had announced to organise a long march from PPP stronghold Ghotki to Karachi against the provincial government on February 27.

The PTI Sindh President and Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi had also visited different cities of Sindh to gather public support for the upcoming long march against the PPP-led Sindh government.

It may be noted here that PTI and its ally parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) had organised a demo sit-in outside the Governor House in Karachi to warn the PPP-led Sindh government.

Moreover, the sit-in of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has entered its 25th consecutive day in Karachi to demonstrate against the controversial Sindh Local Government (LG) law.

Yesterday, JI Pakistan Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq had made an important announcement to hold a sit-in outside the Bilawal House before February 27 if the Sindh government fails to withdraw the controversial LG law besides accepting the demands of the protestors.

JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman had also given two-day ultimatum to the Sindh government to accept the demands of the sit-in participants and announced to hold sit-ins on five entrance routes of Karachi to mount pressure on the provincial authorities.
