Cyclone Biparjoy will hit Ketibander this afternoon, migration of 80,000 people

Biparjoy is 230 km away from Karachi, 235 km from Thatta and 155 km from Ketibandar, center of storm is moving at a speed of 150 kilometer per hour while 25 to 30 feet high waves are rising, Meteorological Department

Biparjoy, a very severe cyclonic storm in Arabian Sea, will hit the Keti Bandar coast in Sindh today at 2 pm.

In view of the possible destruction of the storm, 80,000 people have been shifted to safe places from the cities and villages located on the coastal belt of Sindh, including Keti Bandar, Thatta, Badin, and Sajawal.

The Department of Meteorology, while issuing the latest warning regarding Bipar Joy, has said that Bipar Joy is continuously moving towards the north and northeast for 6 hours and is 230 km from the south of Karachi, 235 km from South Thatta, and 155 km from Keti Bandar. It is located in the distance to the south and south-west.

According to the Meteorological Department, the sides of the storm are moving at a speed of 120 to 140 km per hour while the center is 150 km per hour, while 25 to 30 feet high waves are rising. Favorable weather conditions are maintaining the intensity of the storm.

According to the Meteorological Department, in view of the current conditions, Bipar Joy is likely to hit Kati Bandar after 2 PM today. According to Indian media, the cyclone will hit Gujarat between 4 PM and 8 PM.

About 80,000 people have been evacuated from the coastal areas to safe places in view of the storm, while some people are still in the coastal areas and have refused to leave their homes despite the instructions.

The water level is rising in the coastal belt of Karachi under the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy. The seawater in Hawke’s Bay has reached the road, and the road from Karachi to Manora has been partially cut off, due to sand and water on the road to Manora. Several vehicles got stuck. Meanwhile, water has entered the village of Ibrahim Hydari. Flight operations of small planes have been stopped at Karachi Airport.
