Sources confirmed that Sindh Health Department has halted the free supply of medicines to cancer patients, increasing their burden in difficult times and risking the lives of their loved ones.
The data shows that there are more than 7,000 registered cancer patients only in Sindh province.
According to the sources, the new decision says that patients admitted at Civil and Jinnah Hospital will now be asked to pay for the expensive medicines as now it won’t be available for free.

Sources added that the move has been taken after the health department received a complaint about the side effects of cancer drugs.
They added that patients complained repeatedly about the severe distress caused to patients after consuming the medicines.
Sources said that patients purchase medicines from the medicine market after being examined in the OPD of various departments of the hospital.
With the revised recommendation, sources added the non-supply of medicines will double the financial burden on the breadwinners who are aiding their loved ones to fight the disease.
