KARACHI: Four more youths were drowned in Karachi’s Hawkbay beach, the number of drowning in 24 hours has risen to six.
Rescue teams have removed the bodies of four youths while a search for two others was continued by police and local administration. Section 144 has been imposed on the routes leading to Hawkesbay.
According to details, six youths have been drowned on the Hawksbay beach during the last 24 hours. Edhi volunteers said the bodies of four youths have been recovered so far. Section 144 has been implemented in other coastal areas.
The Civil Hospital administration says the bodies of the persons were brought.
According to police officials, the body of a drowning young man was recovered yesterday evening, while a body was recovered this morning, both were identified by the names of Mohsin and Mamnoon.
The two drowned young men were 15 and 16 years old.
Rescue sources say the bodies of two more youths have been recovered today. Both youths were residents of Liaquatabad who were identified as Fahad and Sharim, while the search for Nehal and Obaid is underway.
All routes to Hawksbay have been sealed by the police, which has caused long rows of vehicles on Maripur Road. A large number of picnic citizens have been stuck in traffic. At some localities, verbal scuffles were seen between police and the citizens who were not being allowed to go to the Hawksbay beach.
The administration warned the citizens once again and appealed to them to not go to the beaches amid monsoon season.
