Sorry For Slogan, Still Against Aurat March: Lahore Boy Ahmed Mujahid

Since its inception, Aurat March in Pakistan has been subject to controversies for slogans deemed unacceptable to many. Ahmed Mujahid, who had reached Aurat March in Lahore, triggered a brawl for the slogan he had inscribed on a placard. It said, “The uglier women the bigger feminist.. Prove me wrong”.

After having a look at the slogan, the participants of the march countered Ahmed and asked him to leave. He refused to do so and maintained that the participants of Aurat March hurt the integrity of men.

News360 conducted Ahmed’s exclusive interview to learn his version of the story and what actually happened at Aurat March in Lahore as well as the reason behind producing a controversial slogan.

Ahmed Mujahid professed that his slogan was wrong and extended an apology on it. However, he strongly opposed slogans used in the Aurat March which reflect misandry.

Ahmed asserted that he was very active for women’s rights for long but would not participate in the Aurat March again. But, he would continue to work for the empowerment of women.

Background

The altercation between Ahmed and some of the march’s participants turned into a scuffle in no time and he was ousted from the demonstration.
