KARACHI: In horrible incidents of street crimes in Karachi, three citizens have lost their lives while trying to protect their valuables and beloved ones from the merciless armed dacoits.

Authorities have found nowhere to protect helpless Karachi citizens who lost their lives to armed robbers in different incidents on Wednesday.

Three citizens were killed by street criminals over resistance during the robberies including a trader from the Hindu community in Clifton, a newly-married young man on Kashmir Road and an elderly citizen on Super Highway.

A cotton trader from the Hindu community who was identified as 35-year-old Veerbhan Samar Das became a victim of the street criminals after he drew Rs7.3 million from a private bank near Schon Circle in Clifton along with his brother. After resisting the robbery, armed robbers gunned him down and fled with the cash.

It was learnt that the slain trader was a brother-in-law of CPLC Karachi chief Suresh.

In the second incident, a newly-married Shahrukh, 28, was mercilessly killed by an armed street criminal upon resistance on Kashmir Road after he tried to protect her mother and sister. The mugger had easily fled from the scene after snatching valuables and killing Shahrukh.

Security camera footage captured the moment of the horrible incident that showed a lone robber gunning down the young man at his doorstep.

An elderly man identified as Abdul Qadeer, 50, was killed for resisting a robbery bid near Buraq petrol pump on Super Highway. Police claimed to arrest one of the suspects in an injured condition after an encounter, whereas, his accomplice managed to flee.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Imran Yaqoob Minhas took notice of the street crimes and directed police to utilise all available resources to immediately arrest the culprits. Special teams have been constituted by the Karachi police chief to nab the criminals.
