Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill 2023 has been set for hearing, an 8-member bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial will hear case on petitions filed against bill.
According to details, an eight-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial will hear Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill 2023 on May 2.
Regarding the hearing of the case, the Registrar Supreme Court has issued notices to Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, Supreme Court Bar Association, Pakistan Bar Council.
Registrar Supreme Court has also issued notices to 9 major parties including Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam (F), Jamaat-e-Islami, Muslim League (Q).
It should be noted that objections were raised on the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Bill 2023 by President Dr. Arif Alvi and he refused to sign the bill for approval. However, after the approval of the Parliament, this bill was given the form of law.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan gave a decision on the initial hearing against this bill and said that the implementation of the bill should be stopped until the court issues a formal decision.
