Terrorists have occupied the CTD office in Bannu while KP's chief executive is currently visiting Lahore to play politics.
Terrorists have occupied the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) office in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) while the chief executive of the province is currently visiting Lahore to play politics.
The heavily armed terrorists stormed the CTD office with around 15 of their accomplices and took away the weapons from the security personnel. They took about 8 hostages including Subedar Khursheed Akram. The armed terrorists demanded to give them a safe way to Afghanistan.
Bannu police sources said that there is a safe house inside the CTD office where around 25 people were kept for the purpose of investigation.
The official said that inside the same safe house, the assailants took away the weapons from the policemen inside the office and took them hostage and also opened fire.
According to the security forces, as a result of the firing, three security personnel have been injured and have been shifted to the hospital.
Police officials said that the Cantt area has been completely sealed off and heavy contingents of police personnel and other law enforcement agencies reached the CTD office.
As per the latest reports, there are fears of casualties in the exchange of fire between the attackers and the police. Rescue sources confirmed the martyrdom of two officials.
Analysts said that this is a very serious situation after the terrorists took over the CTD office in Bannu. The more worrisome situation is that the KP chief minister is currently sitting in Lahore playing politics.
It has been more than 12 hours since the terrorists captured the CTD headquarters, but KP CM Mahmood Khan is still staying in Lahore.
