LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has seemingly realized the importance of the social media influencers as a delegation of TikTokers met the vice-president Maryam Nawaz at Jati Umra.
A delegation of PML-N TikTokers has met Maryam Nawaz at the Sharif’s Jati Umra residence. However, the agenda and other conclusions of the meeting were not disclosed but the TikTok stars were given official acknowledgement by the ruling political party.
The recent meeting with TikTokers has given a message that the PML-N realised the importance of the social media platforms to project their narratives across the country instead of just focusing on the conventional media platforms.

Although, the PML-N has a strong social media cell like other political parties, however, the social media platforms are being ruled by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for several years.
Ex-PM Imran Khan had also focused on digitalisation at the state level besides maintaining interactions with YouTubers and other social media influencers.
The recent meeting with PML-N TikTokers was held after the former prime minister Imran Khan became the first-ever person who delivered a record address to 500,000 people on Twitter Space.
Before the Lahore rally, Imran Khan had delivered an online public speech using the social media platform, Twitter Space, to a massive audience.
It was a record-breaking session for any person on Twitter Space who addressed a massive audience of 500k. It was learnt that Khan’s Twitter Space hosted an online audience of 42,000 listeners in just five minutes. Earlier, a famous anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan had hosted 10,000 netizens on Twitter Space.
The popularity of Imran Khan significantly increased after he was ousted from the prime minister’s office. The Twitter followers of the PTI chairman were increased to over 16.3 million from 15 million after his ouster as PM on April 11 following a no-trust motion.
Some segments are claiming that Imran Khan’s address to 500k netizens on Twitter Space was not an unusual happening as per the proportion of its 16.3 million followers.
According to South Asia Index, more than 535K people have turned into the Twitter Space of Pakistan’s former PM Imran Khan, with the highest number of concurrent listeners at 164K.
It listed the top Spaces in Twitter history as over 535,000 people listened to Imran Khan who is having 160k followers followed by K-POP Lyrical Space – over 44K and Salvador Bill Analysis- over 27K.
