Unfinished Ride: Benazir Bought a Vehicle Just Before Assassination

Pak Armoring Director told it was left there 2-3 months earlier for repair as its brakes and suspension had impaired

A vehicle was bought in the name of Benazir Bhutto just 21 days before her assassination but unluckily she could never travel in it, News360 learned.

Benazir Bhutto, who was the first female prime minister of Pakistan and a seasoned politician, was assassinated on December 27, 2007, in Rawalpindi.

However, a vehicle, registered under the name of Benazir Bhutto, was bought just three weeks before her assassination after a mass gathering in the garrison city.

The vehicle is a Ford Truck of 2006 model and it was registered under the name of the ex-premier on December 6, 2007.

The excise record obtained by News360 also endorses the information.

The registration number of the memorabilia vehicle that was parked at Pak Armoring is 7777.

On the question of how the vehicle reached there from Bilawal House, Pak Armoring Director Khurram Hamirani told News360 that the truck was left there 2-3 months ago for repair.

He added that its brakes and suspension had impaired and it was brought there from Bilawal House.

However, the Pak Armoring official told that the parts of the vehicle were not available in Pakistan and they would be imported from Dubai after which the repair work would start.

For further information about the vehicle and its use, News360 approached Naheed Khan, who was Benazir’s confidante and her political secretary.

Naheed Khan was rather a friend to the former prime minister than a party worker and Benazir had called her to Dubai a day before returning to Pakistan after exile in 2007.

After looking at the photos of the vehicle, Naheed Khan told News360 that Benazir never used it.

She speculated that the Ford Truck could be part of Benazir’s convoy. Naheed Khan said that Benazir always used to travel in a Land Cruiser.
