Vandalism during Azadi March: Arrest warrants for PTI leaders issued

Government has decided to arrest PTI leaders in vandalism during Azadi March in Islamabad as police received their arrest warrants from ATC.

LAHORE: The government has decided to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in vandalism during Azadi March in Islamabad as police received their arrest warrants from the anti-terrorism court (ATC).

The police department had approached the court for getting permission to arrest the PTI leaders. The permission was granted by the ATC and issued their arrest warrants.

The ATC issued arrest warrants for Hammad Azhar, Yasir Gillani, Nadeem Bara, Adeel Nawaz, Shafqat Mahmood, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Aijaz Chaudhry, Ikram Usman, Hassan Niazi, Zubair Niazi, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Mussarrat Jamshed Cheema, Imtiaz Sheikh, Andleeb Abbasi, Murad Raas, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal and others.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad police chief submitted a report to the Supreme Court (SC) in a case related to the PTI long march in the federal capital. The report stated that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had issued directives to the protestors to forcedly enter Red Zone despite the SC orders.

The report further stated that around 800 PTI protestors entered Red Zone and police used teargas to disperse the armed PTI workers in which 21 citizens got injured.

The police had attempted to stop the advancement of the PTI protestors but they removed barriers and containers to enter Red Zone following the video message of Imran Khan in which he ordered PTI workers to reach D-Chowk.

It stated that Fawad Chaudhry, Zartaj Gul, Saifullah Niazi, Imran Ismail and others had incited the PTI protestors to resist the authorities. The police declared Imran Khan responsible for the chaos at Islamabad’s D-Chowk, whereas, the top court has also been handed over video clips and Twitter messages alongside the probe report.
