The arrival of sacrificial animals has seen an upward momentum in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth Maweshi Mandi, called the biggest cattle market of South Asia, where animal vendors from across the country have reached to reap the fruit of their year-long of hard work.
With Eid-ul-Azha barely two weeks away, the influx of vendors in the Sohrab Goth Maweshi Mandi with sacrificial animals of multiple breeds is spurring with each passing day.
The animal raisers from all over the country are landing in Karachi with dozens of cattle in huge containers, hoping to return home with large sums of money against their livestock.
Currently, as many as 250,000 animals have set their feet in the sprawling cattle marketplace and the number is expected to reach up to 1.5 million.

Around 50,000 goats, cows and sheep and other cattle are crossing toll plaza of Karachi from different parts of the country including Khanewal, Sadiqabad, Sahiwal, Sibi, Quetta, Larkana, Nawabshah, Ghotki, etc.
Sohrab Goth Maweshi Mandi Spokesperson Raza Chawla said they have facilitated the animal vendors in every form.
The Media Coordinator Zaki Abro confirmed as many as 250,000 sacrificial animals have been brought into the cattle market so far.
The vendors, who arrived from different parts of Sindh, told News360 that they settle in the Sohrab Goth Maweshi Mandi to sell livestock every year.
The market management has opened the general blocks for the sellers where they can park their animals.
There are facilities for clean drinking water for cattle, power connections, and fodder.
The influx of sacrificial animals is likely to intensify in the coming days.
