Was There a Motive Behind ICIJ Questionnaire to Imran Khan?

The Indian Express

The off-subject questions in the questionnaire of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) while investigating Pandora Papers from Imran Khan have raised doubts on its motives.

Senior journalist and columnist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami revealed in a show that the questionnaire sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan was more political than financial.

He disclosed that it contained questions such as Imran Khan’s relations with the military.

Mujeeb-ur-Rehman said he was shocked to learn this and suggested the government raise the matter with ICIJ as asking such queries wasn’t its jurisdiction.

In another show hosted by Gharidah Farooqi, Umar Cheema, who was part of the ICIJ team which investigated Pandora Papers in Pakistan, couldn’t give a satisfactory answer on the alleged property of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said the confusion was created due to the twin addresses of the premier’s residence in Lahore.

A controversial questionnaire sent to Prime Minister Imran Khan has raised questions if the investigation had some political motives.
