What is the Inside Story of SAMAA Reporter’s Yesterday Incident
WEB DESK: Sanjay Sadhwani was beaten yesterday while he was on his journalistic duty in Karachi. During PDM Jalsa coverage he captured moments of closed gate on the female side of venue and was beaten by PPP volunteer.
According to Sanjay, during the live coverage, the PPP Jalsa management of rally locked the gates of Jinnah ground barring people to leave the place, when suddenly a man, who claimed that he is PPP volunteer held his hand forcefully refusing to let him go and asked him to show his press card.
After a while, the volunteer checked the reporter’s press card and asked him to leave while exchanging heated words with Sadhwani and showed his anger for showing the reality of the huge crowd in the rally.
In a video he posted on Twitter, Sadhwani accused a PPP volunteer who started pushing him as he showed female PPP workers saying they wanted to leave the venue but were not being allowed to do so.
Talking exclusively to News 360, Sadhwani said that PPP District East President, Shiraz Abbasi came to me in pugnacious manner asking me to show my service card.
“I inquired in which capacity he needs to see it? He said he’s volunteer and on seeing my press card, he said you are from SAMAA and started thrashing me. This all is captured in camera as people have seen it on air too.
Indian hostile media has again picked this story with the headlines “Hindu Reporter Beaten at PDM Jalsa in Karachi by Volunteers”.
