Why Anchorperson Shiffa Yousafzai Defamed by Journalist?

Several media fellows condemned after journalist tried to scandalized Shiffa Yousafzai for having strong ties with ministers & ISPR officials

Pakistani journalist Asad Ali Toor revealed some shocking insights regarding Shiffa Yousafzai, who has been an anchorperson of Hum News breakfast show named Subah Say Agay and received criticism from colleagues. 

Asad tweeted a video link from his Youtube channel named ‘Asad Toor uncensored’ where he questioned the credibility of Hum News presenter.

Toor stressed upon the founder of Hum Network Sultana Siddiqui for compromising the screen for the people who have no knowledge about current affairs and who bluntly repost the news from other sources without giving any credits.

Shedding light on Shiffa’s background, Asad added that she had been unprofessional and have stated wrong facts about the son of Prime Minister Imran khan.

Moreover, Shiffa has used the news from a website without giving any credits to the author, and after the legal action was taken against anchorperson, she clarifed that the act was done mistakenly by the researcher.

The journalist questioned Sultana Appa for giving value to anchorpersons with beautiful faces with little knowledge about current affairs.

The journalist lamented that anchorperson Shiffa has been given value for having strong association with ministers and ISPR officials.

Soon after the tweet went viral, several media fellows and defended the host.

Pakistan Television (PTV) former anchorperson Tanzeela Mazhar wrote that Asad Toor tried to scandalized Shiffa Yousafzai as a woman with no character and unprofessional.

In response to it, Asad Ali Toor wrote that he has no intentions to defame Shiffa, whereas he only quoted in the context of doing quality journalism over PR activities to secure her job and requested Tanzeela to avoid misguiding the masses.

Moreover, journalist Mahwash Ajaz suggested Toor apologize.

Further, journalist-anchorperson Alina Shigri said hurling such allegations holds no significance if the channel itself has no objection keeping her.

She added that Asad’s point of view would be more valuable if the matter was taken to PEMRA.

According to Supreme Court’s verdict in a recent case, “A woman, whatever her sexual character or reputation may be, is entitled to equal protection of the law. No one has the license to invade her person or violate her privacy on the ground of her alleged immoral character”.
