National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Chairman Hussain Asghar has resigned allegedly to protest against possible extension to chairman Javed Iqbal.
He was appointed as deputy chairman of the anti-graft watchdog in 2019.
Speculations are running rife that Hussain Asghar has resigned to protest against the possible extension to incumbent chairman Javed Iqbal who is completing his four-year term on October 8.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will finalize his decision on the appointment or extension in the tenure of NAB chairman today.

A committee formed to discuss legalities before amendment in the NAB ordinance met on Monday.
It comprised of Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, and Adviser on Accountability Shahzad Akbar.
The law minister had presented the constitutional and legal options before the premier and federal ministers regarding the new appointment on the NAB’s top position and to retain the incumbent chairman.
Sources said Prime Minister Imran Khan is keen to retain Javed Iqbal as the chairman of the bureau owing to his great performance during four-year tenure.
